CALL FOR NOMINATION OF CANDIDATES TO SERVE ON THE CITY PLANNING COMMISSION FROM 01 SEPTEMBER 2018 TO 30 JUNE 2021

THE ETHEKWINI MUNICIPALITY calls for applications from interested persons with the requisite skills to serve as members of the City Planning Commission (CPC). The CPC is constituted every three years.
In accordance with the eThekwini Municipality Council decision of June 2018, the City is reconstituting the City Planning Commission (CPC) for the term 01 September 2018 to 30 June 2021.

The City Manager calls for the nomination of suitable candidates to be considered for the appointment to the City Planning Commission. A Chairperson and 17 members will be appointed in their personal
capacities to serve on the Commission. Remuneration of Commission Members will be in line with the
Remuneration Guidelines of the National Treasury.

NOMINEES MUST HAVE KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE IN THE FOLLOWING FIELDS:
  • Development Planning Transport Planning
  • Development Economics Environment and Sustainable Development
  • Urban and Regional Planning Education and Skills Development
  • Scenario Planning Public Policy and Governance
  • Spatial Planning Public Finance
  • Infrastructure Planning and Maintenance
  • Agriculture and Food Security

The nominations of persons to serve on the Commission must be submitted to the eThekwini Municipality on the official nomination form which can be downloaded here. The forms are also available on request.

The Nomination Form must be completed in full and signed by both the Nominator and the Nominee and must include the following Annexures:
  • A motivation for the nominee, with the full names and contact details of the Nominator explaining the Nominee suitability for appointment in terms of the criteria stated above. 

The composition of the City Planning Commission seeks to promote diversity in gender, race, and class to ensure a relevant balanced structure representative of a democratic South Africa. Nominations must reach the City Manager‘s Office on or before 30 July 2018. CONDITIONS FOR NOMINATIONS
  • Nominations should be made on the Prescribed Form​ and should be signed by the person nominating and the nominee to indicate acceptance
  • Nominations should be accompanied a Copy of the ID, a detailed Curriculum Vitae with at least two referees providing key information on the nominee‘s suitability for the appointment and certified copies of academic qualifications.
  • Self-nomination is not allowed
  • No nominee will be considered unless all of the above are included
